About me

I am a quantitative scientist, using methods from mathematics and physics to understand complex systems. I live in Lucerne with my family and am currently looking for a new position.

I studied engineering, a Bachelor and a Master, and first worked on gas dynamics. Then I moved into biofluidics, modelling the fluid dynamics of an artificial heart first, and later designing a bioreactor for observing how bacteria evolve resistance against drug combinations. That is what brought me closer to biology.

From there I went to ETH Zürich for a PhD, where I mathematically, computationally and experimentally explored the transmission and evolutionary dynamics of bacterial populations.

I am a curious person, interested in systems with many moving parts. I follow geopolitics and markets closely, and I like discussing current affairs, new technologies and ideas. I also like small, techy toy projects, such as running Mail-in-a-Box, SimpleLogin, Wiki.js, Vaultwarden or Paperless on my own virtual private servers.
